Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome: Official March 2022 Photo Submission Portal

Iron Boots Devil Dog in Waxed Coffee Brown Bullhide

@the_boothshelf‘s endlessly good Iron Boots Devil Dogs in Waxed Coffee Brown Bullhide

Welcome back, intrepid Thunderdomers! You’ve now made it five full months in your chosen pair. Five! Get ready for two more. The Dome’s end is in sight (and you’ll probably be really sad when it happens but let’s worry about that later).

Below is where you will upload your photos for March 2022. To remain in the Dome, all photos for March must be submitted by March 5, 2022 at 11:59pm Eastern Time.

BUT WAIT!! Before you get to that, I’ve got some some very exciting news. We’ve teamed up with the very good indeed app Patina Project to also host EVERY Thunderdome photo there as well—so everyone can see every shot of every boot, shoe, etc, including from previous months (minus the identifier shot, anything with a person’s face in it, or any other personal information). March photos may not be available immediately. But that’s ok.

You don’t have to do anything in terms of uploading to Patina Project—magic will handle that.

This is a huge step forward in terms of what this Thunderdome can be and mean, and how everyone—contestant or not—can interact with it. Giving you the ability to see into the future of a specific boot or leather is in many ways the goal of this contest (also: fun) (also also: win prizes!). So needless to say it’s a development we’re absolutely thrilled about.

So, you should absolutely download and check outPatina Project on the Apple App store and the Android store, and spend countless hours just looking at photos of very, very good footwear.

Every month through May 2022, photos shot in the manner detailed below are required to remain in the Thunderdome competition. Please follow the instructions closely.

Some things to remember…

No filtering or color editing of photos is allowed. You can crop, or change alignment, sure. But the judges will know if you’re trying to soup up your photos to create faux-tina. So, just don’t do it!

All photos MUST be shot in a vertical/portrait alignment. The reason for that: we’re excited to fill up the @stitchdownpatinathunderdome Instagram with all of them to tell the tale of your boots’ and shoes’ journeys for all to see (yes, the better the photo, the better the chance it ends up on there).

The seven required photo angles are are listed below

You can also feel very free to add one optional “action” shot—basically anything that’s not like the below. On-foot, hurled high into the air and captured, eating hot dogs with Ticho, whatever.

NO “IDENTIFIER SHOT” IS NEEDED THIS MONTH! Rejoice?

Below are the shot angles you’ll need to include for March:

PLEASE NOTE: To properly upload images, you must first hit “attach file”, then drag and drop said images, then hit “Upload”, and THEN scroll down slightly and hit “Submit”

You should receive a confirmation email upon your submission. If you don’t, first check your spam. If it’s not there, please contact me at thunderdome@stitchdown.com and we’ll get it sorted.
