It’s a very exciting week in the world of boot ‘n’ shoes—and not just because of all the great releases we rounded up for ya below. The Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome, aka the world’s largest and oldest prize-laden footwear and leather goods aging contest is back, and incredible entries are already rolling in. You’ve got until Oct 10th to get involved right now, or we also have our late entry period between Nov 1-10.
Anyways, we’ve got a bunch of sweet releases for you this week, including an Østmo X Iron Boots GMTO, even even even more Vibergs, restocks on the Unmarked x Self Edge collab, and more…so let’s get into it.
Check out any releases you may have missed here.
[Ed Note: while we never choose anything specifically because of them, some of these recommendations contain affiliate links—the price is the same for you, but Stitchdown gets a small commission if you make a purchase. It’s essential to keeping the site alive, so we really, really appreciate it.]
Østmo X Iron Boots Type 1 in Horween Color 4 Shell Cordovan: $1690 (Sold Out—But There May Be More)
This is possibly the grandest thing Østmo X Iron Boots has done yet. Horween’s lustrous Color 4 shell cordovan, the Østmo Type 1 (replete with swooptie and all), Moe last. As with all of their collaboration GMTOs, you can spec these things out to your heart’s content.
The bad news: this pre-order ran through their current shell availability REAL quick. The good news: they’re currently hot on the hunt to secure more to re-open the pre-order, and signing up for Iron Boots’ Substack is the best way to stay updated.
Viberg Navvy Boot BCT in Black Kangaroo: $1,380
Yes, it’s true. We’ve got another six pairs of Vibergs for you this week. “Didn’t you have six pairs of Vibergs for us last week, though?”, you may ask. Yes, we did. “Didn’t I already see some of these models, with this same kangaroo?” Yes, YOU did! But those were on leather soles—this time it’s Dainite. And you’ll see some differences in the shoes, most notably a brogued cap toe.
This collection is all centered around the use of kangaroo—a leather which is extremely supple for how strong it is—offered across four silhouettes in two different colors. Ben Stitchdown will tell you just how good this leather is, along with Viberg’s anatomical Cantilever last; he’s can’t stop talking about his leather-soled Navvy shoes. First up we have the Navvy boot, Viberg’s naval inspired silhouette offered not only in Black Kangaroo…

Viberg Navvy Boot BCT in Ebony Kangaroo: $1,380
…but Ebony Kangaroo as well. If you’re looking to try out the Cantilever last but want something a little more low profile than the Navvy boot…

Viberg Navvy Cut Shoe BCT in Black Kangaroo: $1,275
…then they’ve also got the Navvy Cut Shoe for you, keeping that same military style brogue cap toe as its bigger boot brother. Just like the boots, the Navvy Cuts come in Black Kangaroo…

Viberg Navvy Cut Shoe BCT in EbonyKangaroo: $1,275
…and Ebony Kangaroo.

Viberg Savoy in Ebony Kangaroo: $1,275
If the military-leaning Navvys aren’t your thing, they’ve got a couple other ‘roo options for you, including the, erm, ruggedly refined split toe Savoy. Like the Navvys, the Savoy is built on the Cantilever last, but the hand-stitched apron brings a measured casualness to the shape. Rounding things out…

Viberg Bristol in Black Kangaroo: $1,275
…we’ve got the Bristol penny loafer in Black Kangaroo. Built on the 1905 last, the Bristol, along with all the other shoes and boots in this release, feature 270° flat welts and Dainite soles.

Unmarked x Self Edge Roper in Black Bison: $595
Self Edge just restocked their collab pair of ropers they made up with León, Mexico-based Unmarked. Built from a tea-core, veg tan bison leather tanned at Cisne Tannery also in León (which just so happens to be down the street from the Unmarked factory), these fellas lean into the Western side of things a little harder than Unmarked’s plain Roper thanks to that some fun top stitching. This collab pair has Dr. Sole Supergrip half soles secured with a 270° Goodyear welt. The initial run of these sold out very quickly, and it’s looking like we’re on track for the same thing to happen again, with many sizes already sold out.
White’s Boots x Hiroshi Kato C350 Chelsea in Triple Black: $680
The third release in the ongoing collaboration with White’s Boots and Hiroshi Kato, this Chelsea gets the Triple Black treatment: full grain matte-black leather, tonal black stitching, black elastic side gores, and black Vibram 2060 outsoles. This collab pair is built with 360° single-row stitchdown construction and is made on the 55 Arch-Ease last.e

Easymoc x Gitman Vintage Easymoc in Sherry Tweed and Oil Tanned Full Grain Leather: $350
A fitting release as we get into the fall mood, the second iteration of the partnership between Lewiston, ME’s Easymoc and Gitman Vintage combines a tweed plug with leather uppers. The tweed comes from Gitman’s Tennessee factory, and is the same fabric they use on their Simple Jacket. As with all Easymocs, the toe is handstitched, and then the shoes are finished with Vibram camp soles.
