Limmer Century Boot in Brown Bullhide

Limmer Century Boot in Brown Bullhide (Made to Order): $1,000+

If you aren’t already familiar, Peter Limmer & Sons is small but extremely serious bootmaker in the White Mountains of New Hampshire mostly focused on building practical, custom fit boots for hikers. How serious? They’ve been making black boots for 100 years, because changing the color won’t help you go up a mountain better.

But as of April 18th, they’ve officially been in the US for a century (so long Bavaria!) and they’re marking the occasion with an open house, a group hike in Intervale, NH, and a limited release version of their benchmade boot in brown. Whoa take it easy guys! The model uses a single piece upper tanned by S.B. Foot, single-row stitchdown construction, and Vibram Montagna outsoles. If you’re at the open house on Saturday April 18th, you can order a pair that’ll come in six months. Beyond that, Limmer will be offering the Century Boot to anyone on their backlog waitlist (although that’ll take quite a bit longer).

Nicks Boot of the Month #6 in Brown Minotaur Bullhide

Nicks Boot of the Month #6 in Brown Minotaur Bullhide: $639 (Made to Order)

April marks the sixth round of Nicks’ monthly makeup experiments, and this time they’ve constructed a conspicuously shaftless 360˚ stitchdown boot based on the Aldert Strider model. Brown bullhide uppers sit atop a flexible rubber midsole and cream wedge soles. Nicks says the combo makes for a cool, flexible, and water resistant summer boot—if you squint hard enough, they’re almost a PNW sneaker.

Chico Imrielt Fellini Boot in Canguro Nero

Chico Imrie Fellini Boot in Canguro Nero: $1,160

Julian Imrie–the guy who did the iconic Mister Freedom Road Champ engineer, and bootmaking brain behind Chicho Imrie—had anything but a straight path to bootmaking. He first assisted famous fashion photographer Bruce Weber, then worked on a horse ranch in rural Pennsylvania, and a farm in Kentucky, where he first picked up the trade. Now the brand’s boots are made in Italy, hence the very Italian name of the black kangaroo used for the uppers on this model, assembled with a 270˚ flat welt on gripflex outsoles. Burg & Schild is currently carrying them alongside…
