We’re only six short days from what might just be the largest and most endearing boot-related gathering in the dozen millenia since we invented agriculture and started keeping track of things like that. And if any archeologists want to fact check us on that, well, we’d encourage you to come do it in person this weekend in Chicago..

In the meantime though, we’ve got Rose Anvil’s x Russell Moccasin, a four-part White’s collab from Franklin & Poe, Rolling Dub Trio’s excellent western boot back in stock at Standard & Strange, and lots more below.

Check out the roundup archives here.

Rose Anvil x Russell Moccasin Moc Daddy in Walnut Timberjack

Rose Anvil x Russell Moccasin Moc Daddy in Walnut Timberjack: $875

The first collab boot from Russell and Rose Anvil takes the Backcountry’s upper—three speed hooks, double vamp moccasin construction, 7″ shaft—and combines it with a Vibram Christy wedge. So while these aren’t literally the original moc toe, they dial up many the properties we associate with the archetypal moc toe today. The warm brown of the SB Foot Walnut Timberjack and the outsoles, combined with Russell’s rugged and comfortable construction is pretty compelling…

Rose Anvil x Russell Moccasin Moc Daddy in Roughout Walnut Timberjack

Rose Anvil x Russell Moccasin Moc Daddy in Roughout Walnut Timberjack: $900

…there’s also a roughout version that costs slightly more.

Franklin & Poe x White's Engineer Boot in Natural Chromexcel

Franklin & Poe x White’s Engineer Boot in Natural Chromexcel: $775

These are not the slim, sculptural engineers that have had so much traction for nearly a decade now. Instead we get a big, round, structured toe and some very serious brass buckles. Franklin & Poe’s big achievement here is that these are the first ever White’s with Dr. Sole’s Supergrip outsoles—here in half-sole form. They’re built on the 1970 last with single row stitchdown construction, and available in Natural Chromexcel…

Franklin & Poe x White's Engineer Boot in Black Waxed Flesh

Franklin & Poe x White’s Engineer Boot in Black Waxed Flesh: $775

…or Black Waxed Flesh; this version has green half soles. Pretty killer.

Franklin & Poe x White's Trolly Hopper in Black Chromexcel

Franklin & Poe x White’s Trolly Hopper in Black Chromexcel: $775

If that wasn’t enough for you, there are also two lace-up boots. The “Trolly Hopper” takes White’s rambler and adds a super beefy Vibram 2021 wedge…

Franklin & Poe x White's Broad Street Bully in Natural Chromexcel

Franklin & Poe x White’s Broad Street Bully in Natural Chromexcel: $775

…while the “Broad Street Bully” gives the wedge treatment to an 8″ boot with a brogued cap toe—these are just about the best kind of (or one of the best) monster White’s. Both use double-row stitchdown construction and the 55 last.

At Last & CO. Lot 3718 Side Gore Boot in Black Steerhide

At Last & Co. Lot 3718 Side Gore Boot in Black Steerhide: Price not Listed

Finding Japanese-made boots stateside can be pretty difficult, but Timeworn Clothing is downright elusive: they don’t do e-commerce, only small orders in store in store or via email. That rule holds for their stockists as well—only 5 retailers outside of Japan carry their products. Brogue is one of them, and they their hands on some Chelsea boots from At Last & Co., a Timeworn sub-label. As best we can tell, they’re modeled on navy LOX boots, which unlike engineer boots (probably) are designed to be removed quickly to prevent burns from liquid oxygen or molten metal. At Last & Co’s version have smooth steerhide uppers and rubber half soles. They’re built with with a 270˚ flat welt, and you can order via email if you don’t live nearby.

Rolling Dub Trio Loro in Black Horsebutt

Rolling Dub Trio Loro in Black Horsebutt: $1,100

It’s RDT restock day at Standard & Strange, and it’s a good one. This time, we’ve a run of Loros in black oiled horsebutt from Italy. They use a (heavily) modified version of the J-Munson last, which is fairly narrow and has a sprung, soft-square toe. Underfoot, leather outsoles are secured by 270˚ of double row stitchdown. If no one can keep these–or Clinch’s cowboys–in stock for long, maybe it’s time for more heritage brands to offer their take on a simplified, elegant cowboy boot?

Rolling Dub Trio Griffin 8.5 in Black Horsebutt

Rolling Dub Trio Griffin 8.5″ in Black Horsebutt: $1,040

The other big RDT offering at Standard & Strange is the 8.5″ version of the Griffin, with its appropriately beak-like toe and imposing heel. These are clicked from a teacore version of the same Italian horsebutt as the Loro, and constructed with 270˚ flat welts and rubber full soles. We have to say, this pattern settles into something differently wonderful from the start point as well as anything we’ve seen.

Alden x Leffot Tanker Boots in Tobbacco Chamois

Alden x Leffot Tanker Boots in Tobbacco Chamois: $770

There’s always something undeniably fall about a pair of chamois or roughout boots, especially in a deep brown like these tankers from Leffot. They’re built with a 360˚ flat welt and commando half-soles on Barrie last…

Alden x Leffot Villager Boot in Clay Nubuck

Alden x Leffot Villager Boot in Clay Nubuck: $738

…and dropped alongside a “Villager Boot”—that’s what Leffot calls their plain-toe makeups—in Clay nubuck. Built on the Trubalance last, these are a bit rounder, and have single leather outsoles and 360˚ split-reverse welts.

Bordon Boots Urban Tukano V2 in Italian Waxed Suede

Bordon Boots Urban Tukano V2 in Italian Waxed Suede: $441 (Made to Order)

In the past, Bordon has focused on heavy duty stitchdown footwear, but their most recent release was a duo of heavy duty, cup soled sneakers—it’s no exaggeration to say these are probably among of the toughest sneakers ever made. They use the same uppers as Bordon’s boots, a veg-tan lining and insole with cork fill and a Vibram city plus outsoles. The Tukano is Bordon’s service boot upper…

Bordon Boots Urban Isidro in Wickett and Craig Waxed Flesh
