Hiroshi Kato x White’s Semi Dress in Triple Black: $780
These originally dropped last October, but they are quite back. And black! The basic platform is the Semi Dress pattern—which has a narrow backstay and an internal rather than external counter cover—with a black Vibram wedge, but this makeup also gets orange stitching on the tongue/label and and a Hiroshi Kato stamp on the shafts.
Ultra Sound x White’s 350 Cutter in Tobacco Waxy Commander (Made to Order)
Hong Kong based Ultra Sound Boots has a custom version of the 350 Cutter available for order. Clicked from Tobacco Waxy Commander, they use the 4811 Smokejumper last instead of the regular 55, for a more squared off toe profile and a closer fit. Underfoot they have a 430-mini lug outsole secured with double-role stitchdown. You’ll have to contact them for pricing, or to order if you’re interested.
Rolling Dub Trio Shrik Boots in Black Chromexcel: $913
The endearingly round toe and slight toe bump of the RDT Coupen and Casper has finally made its way onto a roper-style pull-on boot. Given the pattern they’ll inevitably be compared to Red Wing’s Pecos, but diverge with their shorter, scooped shaft tops, as well as the addition of a leather midsole and thicker nitrile cork outsole. Nicks Handmade Boots LL64 in Casual or Work Leathers: $709
The grand prize winner in our 2022-23 Patina Thunderdome, Nicks has run these periodically ever since. They’re a standard Nicks boot and pattern executed on the dressier 1925 last developed for Brandle (though there’s also an HNW option), with a single piece backstay and customization options spanning just about every detail of the uppers.
Grant Stone Unlined Derby in Bourbon Suede: $395
Summer usually means manufacturers trying to strip every possible component from their core models in the name of ventilation, and Grant Stone is no exception. This week they have three new unlined version of their derby, including this one in bourbon suede. Built on the Leo last with a 270˚ flat welt and leather outsoles. HHV x Regal U-Tip GTX in Sand Suede: $463
HHV—short for Hip Hop and Vinyl—have a backstory that’s maybe a little unexpected for a shoe collab: they opened their doors in 2002 with the aim of bringing hard-to-find American hip hop records to Germany. Since then, they’ve branched out across genres and into (among other things) clothing. Here they’ve added a Vibram Newflex outsole in place of the usual lug on Regal’s gore-tex lined U-Tip GTX, executed in sand suede tanned by Sanyo with a 360˚ split welt.
